Thrilled but with a pinch of fear !


This is the first time when from coming monday I will have no office to go to. I will not drive through the busy inner ring road of Domlur (Bangalore) to reach office in Koramangla, I will be at home for few days!

There is a certain amount of fear when you leave something so set for unknown. Unknown where you  for sure don't know what would be coming to you next. The moment one face something unknown, fear starts coming in, fear that it will disrupt your life, fear that it might derail all the plans you have. But this fear is more of a guiding nature and satisfying because everyday it will give you a chance to face it.  It will be worth reflecting when was the last time you faced such a fear !
Really this is what I am feeling after leaving my full time job at ThoughtWorks. 

I know we can debate on the purpose of life and how you take life as ! But somewhere I feel the very purpose of life is to explore things around you, uncover new ways, uncover new paths without any fear and to enrich something called "life". That's precisely is life ! And somewhere I feel I am all set to explore this new phase in life, the phase to face this uncertainty !

I am working on setting up my own start up with couple of real talented friends whom I met while serving my tenure in ThoughtWorks !

Will keep you posted on why and what and how ...  :-)

As a QA I have been logging bugs since 5 years. But what do we do with that ? A typical flow: If this is the only thing we need to do then why taking so much of pain to have a defect tracking system . To log a standard bug (Standard Bug= Broken Functionality), we need to write steps to reproduce, pre-requisites (if any), expected result, actual result, priority, severity, snapshot (if any), Test environment details and finally save it. This takes around roughly 3-5 minutes to log a bug. To say truth, I have never seen any report coming out of defect tracking system which is of use in analyzing the pattern of bug or finding out any trend in them. Test Case Paths : Happy, Sad & Bad

I came back from the background of writing test cases which were categorized in either Positive or Negative test cases. Positive test cases were business flows which may or may not give any result but they will certainly not give any exception or error. Negative test cases are those test cases which were bound to result into some exception or better expressed as error causing scenarios.  Then those positive test cases were prioritized as High/Medium/Low . Finally it used to result in quite a comprehensive test case document. Then it will go through the process of review and few more updates or change of priority etc. Certainly it is a tedious process. Here in ThoughtWorks I got introduced to different way of categorizing test cases called “ Happy/Sad/Bad ”.
